I am an artist who seeks to explore different branches of artistic expression, but always with one foot in the social discussion. I depart from painting and drawing, which are my background, and from there I would like to think that I build visual allegories, metaphors that leave questions in the air. My intention is to generate questions that can find an answer in each person, a question with many answers. I also believe that the background as a painter helps to reinforce the relationship of the object to its environment through the composition of the image.
Most of the questions I usually present in my work have a social and political context. My artistic process has a very important part in the craftsmanship, in the manual work, probably because of my working-class social background. This background helps me to interpret my environment, not only with the artwork but also in the way I want it to be interpreted. So, even using imagery and techniques associated with other social classes, I try to make that perception of society perceptible in some way in my work.
In my practice I try not to discard any technique or form of expression, I believe that in art everything can be valid, if what is being told has a certain value. Traditional sculpture, video, installation, or any other form of expression has a place in my work. Individually, if it is in my hands, or in a collaborative way. I have the firm conviction that also in art, in common we add up to more.
One of the latest dilemmas that have taken over my work are the migratory processes. Over the last five years this has become central to my work. I have dedicated myself to exploring the complex and often hidden realities faced by migrants and refugees around the globe. Without trying to be the voice of others, without trying to usurp those who express themselves in the first person, I want to bring to the table a discussion that concerns the whole of society and people's fundamental rights. Ultimately, I believe that art can play a crucial role in how we understand and respond to the complex political issues of our time.
